Summit Software’s New Product:
SSWeb
SSWeb
service allows you to post a selection of current jobs or all jobs to your web
site and invite applicant response. Applicants
may then submit their personal data, including a resume, for a job or jobs
selected by them. From your version
of StaffSoft you may then download applicants considered suitable into the
StaffSoft Applicant/Candidate database creating a complete record from the
information received. Much less
data entry!
Call 800-856-9696 and ask for a review of SSWeb and our FREE Introductory Offer.

do I print the Skills Dictionary list?”
a. From the main menu choose Utilities, Dictionary Maintenance.
b. Click the Skill radio button and choose PRINT on the right.
c. A message appears “The skill dictionary was listed to a text file: skillist.txt. Use any word processor to print the file.”
This is where most people get stuck? What does that message mean?
d. Use the Microsoft Find File feature.
Enter the following under “Named:” skillist.txt
Change the “Look in:” box to the computer where the main StaffSoft Program resides.
Check the box “Include Subfolders” and click Find Now.
The Microsoft Find File should locate this file and list it below. Double click on the file listed and print!
The same method is used for printing the industry (induslis.txt), degree (degreeli.txt), and major (majorlis.txt) dictionaries.

Administrator’s
Utility Review - Trim Leading
Spaces From Fields
Once upon a time I recall the following words coming out of my mouth, “I’ll never use a mouse!” Two observations: 1) I was inexperienced enough to think ‘never’ was viable and 2) the internet was still a text based black and white (or green) medium for research and message posting in my spare time. Today, except for data entry purposes, the tab key is seldom used, mouse’s rule!
Most people use the mouse exclusively and will click in a name or address field leaving empty space before the actual data. This may cause the file results to seem out of alphabetical order. I encourage my classes to hit the Home key before typing or triple clicking the mouse in the field! However, StaffSoft can remove those spaces if you periodically run the following utility:
With all users logged out of the StaffSoft Program
a. Enter the Utility menu and choose System Tools
b.
Choose “Trim Leading Space On Quick Search Files”
c.Click
PROCEED.
The time to complete this function will depend on the size of your database. It is recommended to start this utility in the evening and allow to run overnight.
